Hitachi SJ-P1 Drive Fault Codes:

Fault Code and MeaningCause and Remedy
E001

Overcurrent error

Cause:


  • A steep load change occurred or motor hunting.

  • Insufficient acceleration or deceleration time.

  • Output line short-circuit, ground fault, or motor lock.

  • System environment changes or aging deterioration.




Remedy:


  • Adjust Overcurrent suppression [bA120] or Overload limit [bA122].

  • Increase acceleration time [FA-10] or deceleration time [FA-12].

  • Check wiring and motor insulation.

  • Clean fans/ducts or reduce motor load.


E005

Motor overload error

Cause:


  • Operation under heavy load continued.

  • Thermal level setting [bC110] is incorrect.

  • Insufficient acceleration torque or load inertia is large.

  • Overvoltage suppression function is active causing current increase.




Remedy:


  • Re-examine operation/load conditions.

  • Adjust motor thermal level setting [bC110].

  • Increase acceleration [FA-10] or deceleration [FA-12] time.

  • Clean cooling fan/ducts if environment is hot.


E006

Braking resistor overload error

Cause:


  • Insufficient deceleration time.

  • Load inertia is large or capacity of braking resistor is small.

  • Continuous regenerative operation or external force rotating the motor.




Remedy:


  • Set longer deceleration time in [FA-12].

  • Re-examine choice of resistor capacity.

  • Reduce repetition cycle of operation.


E007

Overvoltage error

Cause:


  • Power supply voltage fluctuation.

  • Large load inertia causing high regenerative power.

  • Motor rotated by external force (fan, crane).

  • Mutual interference from two inverters on the same shaft.




Remedy:


  • Check power supply; consider AC reactor.

  • Enable overvoltage suppression [bA140]/[bA146].

  • Use a braking resistor, braking unit, or regenerative converter.

  • Increase deceleration time [FA-12].


E008

Memory error

Cause:


  • Noise interference.

  • Power-off occurred during memory access.




Remedy:


  • Install noise shielding plates.

  • Restore data from keypad backup or initialize inverter.

  • If initialization fails, repair is required.


E009

Undervoltage error

Cause:


  • Power supply voltage decreased or power failure.

  • PS capacity insufficient.

  • Contact fault in circuit breaker.

  • Capacitor deterioration or circuit failure.




Remedy:


  • Re-examine power supply environment.

  • Use retry function if failure was temporary.

  • Check magnetic contactor/breaker. Repair if necessary.


E010

Current detector error

Cause:


  • Current detector circuit is broken.

  • Noise source is nearby.




Remedy:


  • If error recurs after reset, repair is required.

  • Implement noise countermeasures (shielding).


E011

CPU error

Cause:


  • Internal CPU malfunction.

  • Noise source nearby.

  • Data inconsistency during writing.




Remedy:


  • Reset, power cycle, or initialize the inverter.

  • If no recovery, CPU is broken (repair required).

  • Use shielding plates against noise.


E012

External trip error

Cause:


  • External device triggered the trip signal.

  • Terminal logic reversed or wiring wrong.




Remedy:


  • Check external device status.

  • Verify input terminal assignment and A/B contact settings.


E013

USP error

Cause:


  • Operation command entered immediately upon power ON (within 1-2 seconds).

  • Operation command was not released before power ON.




Remedy:


  • Wait 2 seconds or longer after power ON to enter operation command.

  • Release operation command (switch off) before turning on power.


E014

Ground fault error

Cause:


  • Ground fault in wires or motor.

  • Motor insulation deterioration.




Remedy:


  • Turn OFF power. Disconnect motor wires. Check motor/wires.

  • Do not turn ON power while ground fault exists.


E015

Incoming overvoltage error

Cause:


  • Incoming voltage is too high.

  • Power supply has become unstable.




Remedy:


  • Re-examine power supply environment.

  • Check for facility replacements causing voltage changes.


E016

Instantaneous power failure error

Cause:


  • PS voltage decreased due to power failure.

  • Contact fault in circuit breaker.




Remedy:


  • Check power supply capacity.

  • Check magnetic contactor/breaker.


E019

Temperature detector error

Cause:


  • Temperature detector circuit disconnected or broken.




Remedy:


  • Repair is required (circuit broken).


E020

Cooling fan rotation speed reduction error

Cause:


  • Foreign object stuck in fan.

  • Fan end of life.




Remedy:


  • Remove foreign object.

  • Replace cooling fan.


E021

Temperature error

Cause:


  • High carrier frequency.

  • Clogged heatsink fins.

  • High ambient temperature or poor ventilation.

  • Improper installation.




Remedy:


  • Lower carrier frequency setting.

  • Clean the fins.

  • Improve cooling environment.

  • Install according to manual.


E024

Input open-phase error

Cause:


  • Input line/motor loose connection.

  • Single-phase input used on 3-phase setting.




Remedy:


  • Check input lines and breaker terminals. Tighten screws.

  • Use three-phase connection.


E030

IGBT error

Cause:


  • Ground fault, short circuit, or output element failure.

  • Motor rotation locked.




Remedy:


  • Disconnect motor and check wires/insulation.

  • Remove cause of motor lock.

  • If element broken, repair required.


E034

Output open-phase error

Cause:


  • Output line/motor loose connection or disconnected.

  • Motor insulation breakdown.




Remedy:


  • Check output wiring and motor condition.

  • Re-tighten screws.


E035

Thermistor error

Cause:


  • Motor overheated (cooling insufficient or heavy load).

  • Inadequate thermistor setting.

  • Thermistor broken or noise interference.




Remedy:


  • Improve cooling or reduce load.

  • Check thermistor settings and wiring.

  • Separate wiring to reduce noise.


E036

Brake error

Cause:


  • Disconnection of brake check signal line.

  • Brake function setting (timing/logic) incorrect.




Remedy:


  • Check signal wiring.

  • Re-examine brake check waiting time and logic.


E038

Low-speed range overload error

Cause:


  • Motor load is heavy at low frequency (0.2Hz or below).




Remedy:


  • Reduce load at low-speed range.

  • Select larger capacity inverter if frequent.


E039

Controller (inverter) overload error

Cause:


  • Operation under heavy load continued.

  • Insufficient acceleration torque.

  • Load inertia is large.




Remedy:


  • Check load condition.

  • Adjust boost function [Hb141] or control method.

  • Increase accel/decel time.


E040

Operator keypad communication error

Cause:


  • Loose connection/disconnection.

  • Noise interference.




Remedy:


  • Check wiring/connection.

  • Take noise countermeasures (wiring separation).


E041

RS485 communication error

Cause:


  • Loose connection/disconnection.

  • Noise interference.




Remedy:


  • Check wiring.

  • Take noise countermeasures.

RTC error

Cause:


  • Keypad battery runs out.




Remedy:


  • Replace battery and set date.


E043

EzSQ illegal instruction error

Cause:


  • Program not entered or writing error due to noise.




Remedy:


  • Write program after initialization.

  • Avoid noise during writing.


E044

EzSQ nest count error

Cause:


  • Program structure too complicated (nesting > 8 times).




Remedy:


  • Improve program structure.


E045

EzSQ executive instruction error

Cause:


  • Program flow inadequate (invalid “for/next/goto”).

  • Math overflow/underflow/div by zero.

  • Non-existing parameter accessed.




Remedy:


  • Check program logic and arithmetic operations.

  • Check parameter instructions.


E050 to E059

EzSQ user-assigned errors

Cause:


  • Program triggered a user-assigned error instruction.




Remedy:


  • Check content of trip instruction in EzSQ program.


E060 to E089

Option 1/2/3 errors

Cause:


  • Option not securely mounted.

  • Option used incorrectly.




Remedy:


  • Check option mounting.

  • Refer to specific option manual.


E090 to E096

STO path / FS option error

Cause:


  • Safety function system has problems.




Remedy:


  • Refer to “Functional Safety Guide”.


E100

Encoder disconnection error

Cause:


  • Feedback option error.




Remedy:


  • Refer to P1-FB user’s guide.


E104

Position control range error

Cause:


  • Position counter exceeded range.

  • Improper electronic gear or encoder setting.

  • Slipping due to mounting.




Remedy:


  • Recheck electronic gear/encoder settings.

  • Check encoder mounting.

Speed deviation error

Cause:


  • Deviation between frequency command and feedback speed.

  • Improper encoder/gear setting.




Remedy:


  • Re-examine load conditions.

  • Check encoder/gear settings.


E106

Position deviation error

Cause:


  • Position feedback deviation exceeds limit.




Remedy:


  • Re-examine load conditions.

  • Check encoder/gear settings.


E107

Over-speed error

Cause:


  • Speed exceeded detection level.




Remedy:


  • Re-examine operation/load conditions.

  • Check encoder/gear settings.

Contactor error

Cause:


  • Wiring defect in intelligent input.

  • Contactor response defect.




Remedy:


  • Check setting and wiring of intelligent input.

  • Check contactor operation and response time.
