Lenze MC 3000 Drive

Fault Code and MeaningCause and Remedy
OUTPUT

Output transistor fault: Output current exceeded 200% of drive rating

Cause:

  • Phase to ground short.

  • Phase to phase short.

  • FX BOOST set too high.

  • Bad transistor module (IPM).

Remedy:

  • Check motor and cabling for shorts.

  • Check drive rating against application.

LO VOLTS

Low DC Bus Voltage fault: DC bus voltage below 60% of normal.

Cause:

  • Low line voltage.

Remedy:

  • Check incoming AC power supply.

HI VOLTS

High DC Bus Voltage fault: DC bus voltage above 120% of normal.

Cause:

  • High line voltage.

  • Overhauling load.

  • DECEL rate is set too fast.

Remedy:

  • Check incoming AC line voltage.

  • Increase deceleration time.

  • Install dynamic braking resistor if necessary.

HI TEMP

Temperature fault: Internal drive temperature too high.

Cause:

  • Ambient temperature too high.

  • Fan failure (if equipped).

Remedy:

  • Check cabinet ventilation and ambient temperature.

  • Inspect cooling fans.

OVERLOAD

Current Overload fault: Output current rating exceeded for too long.

Cause:

  • Drive undersized for the application.

  • Problem with motor and/or driven equipment.

Remedy:

  • Check motor sizing.

  • Check for mechanical binding or load issues.

  • Wait 3 minutes for cool down (UL508C requirement).

PWR TRAN

Power Transient fault: Low line voltage.

Cause:

  • AC line dipped or sagged.

Remedy:

  • Check AC power supply stability.

PWR SAG

Power Sag fault: Control board voltage is below tolerance.

Cause:

  • Erratic AC line.

  • A new control board has been installed that is different from the previous version.

Remedy:

  • Perform a factory reset using Parameter 65-PROGRAM. (This will update the software and allow the fault to be reset).

LANGUAGE

Language fault: Selected language not present.

Cause:

  • Defective language EEPROM.

  • Language EEPROM (U11) removed after programming.

Remedy:

  • Check EEPROM installation.

EXTERNAL

External fault: TB-13D is open or closed to TB-2, depending on setting of Parameter 50 – TB13D.

Cause:

  • External device triggered.

  • Wiring issue on terminal inputs.

Remedy:

  • Check setting of Parameter 50.

  • Check devices wired between TB13D and TB-2.

DB ERROR

Dynamic Brake fault: DB circuit has sensed a resistor overload.

Cause:

  • The DB duty cycle is too high, causing the resistors to overheat.

Remedy:

  • Reduce braking requirements or cycle time.

  • Check resistor sizing.

CONTROL

Control Board fault: New software has been installed that is different from the previous version.

Cause:

  • Software version mismatch.

Remedy:

  • Perform a factory reset using Parameter 65-PROGRAM.

  • This will update the software and allow the fault to be reset.

INTERNAL / INTERN (#)

Internal fault: The micro-processor has sensed a problem.

Cause:

  • Electrical noise on control wiring.

  • Defective microprocessor.

Remedy:

  • Check control wiring shielding and grounding.

  • Cycle power.

FOLLOWER

Loss of Follower fault: 4-20 mA signal at TB-5B is below 2 mA.

Cause:

  • Parameter 55 – TB5B LOSS is set to FAULT.

  • Signal wire break or source failure.

Remedy:

  • Check signal wiring at TB-5B.

  • Check source signal generator.

Blank Display or repeatedly flashes TESTING

The power supply has shut down.

Cause:

  • This can be the result of clogged or failed heatsink fans.

Remedy:

  • Check heatsink fans (if equipped).

  • Clear any obstructions.

  • If heatsinks are not clogged, contact the Lenze AC Tech Service Department.
