Lenze SCM Drive

Fault Code and MeaningCause and Remedy
AF
High Temp. Fault

Cause: Ambient temperature is too high; Cooling fan has failed (if equipped).

Remedy:

  • Check ventilation and ambient temperature.

  • Check cooling fan operation.

CF
Control Fault

Cause: A blank EPM, or an EPM with corrupted data has been installed.

Remedy:

  • Perform a factory reset using Parameter 48 – PROGRAM SELECTION.

cF
Incompatibility Fault

Cause: An EPM with an incompatible parameter version has been installed.

Remedy:

  • Remove the EPM.

  • Or perform a factory reset (Parameter 48) to change the parameter version of the EPM to match the drive.

dF
Dynamic Braking Fault

Cause: The drive has sensed that the dynamic braking resistors are overheating and shuts down to protect the resistors.

Remedy:

  • Check load and braking cycle requirements.

EF
External Fault

Cause: One of the TB-13 terminals is set as an External Fault input and that terminal is open with respect to TB-11.

Remedy:

  • Refer to Parameters 10, 11 and 12.

  • Check external wiring/interlocks.

GF
Data Fault

Cause: User data and OEM defaults in the EPM are corrupted.

Remedy:

  • Attempt factory reset.

  • Replace EPM if necessary.

HF
High DC Bus Voltage Fault

Cause: Line voltage is too high; Deceleration rate is too fast; Over-hauling load.

Remedy:

  • Check input line voltage.

  • Decrease deceleration rate.

  • Dynamic braking may be required for fast deceleration or overhauling loads.

JF
Remote Keypad Fault

Cause: The communication link between the drive and the optional Remote Keypad has been lost.

Remedy:

  • Check for proper wiring and/or noise.

LF
Low DC Bus Voltage Fault

Cause: Line voltage is too low.

Remedy:

  • Check input line voltage.

  • Wait for voltage to return to normal level (Fault cannot be cleared until voltage is normal).

OF
Output Transistor Fault

Cause: Phase to phase or phase to ground short circuit on the output; Boost settings are too high; Acceleration rate is too fast; Failed output transistor.

Remedy:

  • Check motor and cabling for shorts.

  • Adjust Boost settings.

  • Reduce acceleration rate.

PF
Current Overload Fault

Cause: VFD is undersized for the application; Mechanical problem with the driven equipment.

Remedy:

  • Verify drive sizing vs motor load.

  • Check driven equipment for mechanical binding or issues.

UF
Start Fault

Cause: Start command was present when the drive was powered up.

Remedy:

  • Must wait 2 seconds after power-up to apply Start command if START METHOD is set to NORMAL.

F1
EPM Fault

Cause: The EPM is missing or damaged.

Remedy:

  • Install valid EPM.

FC, F2-F9, Fo
Internal Faults

Cause: The control board has sensed a problem.

Remedy:

  • Consult factory.

br
DC Braking

Cause: The DC braking circuit is activated.

Remedy:

  • Status indication only.

cE
Parameter Version Warning

Cause: An EPM with a different parameter version is installed and an attempt is made to change parameter settings without performing the TRANSLATE function.

Remedy:

  • Refer to PROGRAM SELECTION (Parameter 48).

CL
Current Limit

Cause: The output current has exceeded the CURRENT LIMIT setting (Parameter 25) and the drive is reducing output frequency.

Remedy:

  • If drive remains in CURRENT LIMIT too long, it can trip into PF fault.

  • Check load conditions.

Er
Error

Cause: Invalid data has been entered or an invalid command was attempted.

Remedy:

  • Check data range and retry.

GE
OEM Mode Warning

Cause: Attempt made to change OEM default settings when the drive is operating in the OEM mode.

Remedy:

  • Refer to Parameter 48.

GF
OEM Data Corruption

Cause: If displayed when RESET OEM attempted: OEM defaults in EPM corrupted. If displayed upon power-up: OEM defaults and user settings in EPM corrupted.

Remedy:

  • Refer to Section 13.2 of manual.

LC
Fault Lockout

Cause: The drive has failed three restart attempts.

Remedy:

  • Requires a manual reset.

SE
Serial Active

Cause: The optional remote keypad is active as the user interface instead of the buttons on front of the drive.

Remedy:

  • Refer to Parameter 14 (CONTROL).

SP
Start Pending

Cause: Blinks during the interval between restart attempts.

Remedy:

  • Wait for restart sequence.

(Blinking Decimals)
Decel Override

Cause: Both upper decimal points blinking. Drive stopped decelerating to avoid tripping into HF fault due to regenerative energy.

Remedy:

  • Status indication; drive is protecting itself.

CP
Control Pad

Cause: Speed is set using the up and down buttons on the front of the drive.

Remedy:

  • Normal Operation.

EI
External Current

Cause: Speed is controlled by a 4-20 mA signal wired to TB-25 and TB-2.

Remedy:

  • Normal Operation.

EU
External Voltage

Cause: Speed is controlled by a 0-10 VDC signal wired to TB-5 and TB-2.

Remedy:

  • Normal Operation.

JG
Jog Mode

Cause: The drive is in Jog mode, and the speed is set by Preset Speed #2 (Parameter 32).

Remedy:

  • Normal Operation.

OP
MOP (Motor Operated Pot)

Cause: Contacts wired to TB-13B and TB-13E are used to increase and decrease the drive speed.

Remedy:

  • Normal Operation.

Pr1 – Pr7
Preset Speeds

Cause: Speed is set by the indicated Preset Speed (Parameters 31-37).

Remedy:

  • Normal Operation.
