Fault Code and MeaningCause and Remedy
OVERSPEED

Motor overspeed – the speed feedback signal has exceeded 125% of rated speed.

Cause:

  • Badly adjusted speed loop.

  • Note: Alarm only operates with encoder or armature volts feedback selected.




Remedy:

  • Adjust speed loop settings.

  • Note: Alarm time delay is 50 milliseconds.


MISSING PULSE

A missing pulse from the 6-pulse armature current waveform.
(Only enabled when motor loading exceeds 1.5 times the DISCONTINUOUS parameter).

Cause:

  • Firing plug failure.

  • Connection failure.

  • Firing circuit connector problems during motoring operation.




Remedy:

  • Check firing plug and connections.

  • Note: We recommend fusing the armature circuit if regenerative operation is intended.

  • Alarm time delay: 60 seconds.


FIELD OVER I

The motor field current has exceeded 120% of the calibrated value.

Cause:

  • External field has incorrect supply phases applied.

  • (Alarm only operates with field current control mode selected).




Remedy:

  • Check external field supply phases.

  • Alarm time delay: 10 seconds.


HEATSINK TRIP

The Drive heatsink temperature is too high.

Cause:

  • Ambient air temperature is too high.

  • Poor ventilation or spacing between Drives.

  • Fan failure.

  • Blocked ventilation slots or clogged air filters.

  • Excessive armature current.




Remedy:

  • Check fuse on power board.

  • Check for wrong fan rotation (models above 70A bridge rating).

  • Clean ventilation slots and filters.

  • Check nominal armature current on nameplate against current calibration.

  • Note: The stack must be allowed to cool in order to re-start the Drive.


THERMISTOR

The motor temperature is too high.

Cause:

  • Inadequate ventilation.

  • Blower failure.

  • Excessive armature current.




Remedy:

  • Check blower direction and air filters (clogged).

  • Check nominal armature current on nameplate against current calibration.

  • Allow motor to cool to re-start.


OVER VOLTS (VA)

Motor armature voltage has exceeded 120% of rated volts.

Cause:

  • Loose armature connection.

  • Badly adjusted field voltage setting.

  • Badly adjusted field current loop, field-weakening bemf loop, or speed loop.




Remedy:

  • Secure armature connections.

  • Adjust field and speed loop settings.


SPEED FEEDBACK

Difference between speed feedback and armature voltage feedback is greater than SPDFBK ALM LEVEL.

Cause:

  • Analog tacho feedback polarity incorrect (terminals G3 and G4).

  • The ENCODER SIGN parameter’s polarity is incorrect.

  • Disconnection of wiring, including fibre optics.

  • Armature voltage calibration not suitably reduced when running at reduced field currents.

  • Tachogenerator failure or coupling failure.




Remedy:

  • Check tacho polarity and wiring.

  • Check Encoder Sign parameter.

  • Inspect fibre optics.


ENCODER FAILED

No speed feedback signal.

Cause:

  • SPEED FBK SELECT parameter is set to ENCODER but optional Encoder board is not fitted.

  • Fibre optic cable damage or incorrect bend radius.




Remedy:

  • Check fibre optic cable for damage.

  • Refer to Microtach handbook for operating length.

  • Check cable and connections on wire-ended encoder.


FIELD FAIL

Field current is less than 6% (Current Control mode) or 50mA (Voltage Control mode).

Cause:

  • Open circuit motor field.

  • Faulty operation of field controller.

  • Missing AC supply to onboard field regulator.




Remedy:

  • Check connection and measure field resistance.

  • Check connections FL1 & FL2 for line-to-line voltage.

  • If no field supply required (e.g. permanent magnet motor), set FIELD ENABLE parameter to DISABLED.


3-PHASE FAILED

3-phase supply failure.

Cause:

  • Total failure of supply or missing phase.

  • Blown fuses (high-speed thyristor stack or power chassis coding).

  • Incorrect mains voltage for the controller.




Remedy:

  • Check supply to the controller.

  • Check protection fuses.

  • Verify mains voltage against Product Code.


PHASE LOCK

Supply frequency is outside the frequency band limits 45 – 65Hz.

Cause:

  • Supply frequency issue.

  • Synchronisation errors caused by distorted supply.




Remedy:

  • Check supply frequency.


5703 RCV ERROR

Invalid data received via P3 port from another Drive.

Cause:

  • Communication error on P3 port.

  • (Alarm only operates when MODE parameter is set to 5703 SLAVE).




Remedy:

  • Check connections on P3 port.


STALL TRIP

Motor stationary with current exceeding STALL THRESHOLD for longer than delay.

Cause:

  • Motor is stalled while current is high.

  • (Alarm only operates when STALL TRIP parameter is enabled).




Remedy:

  • Remove mechanical blockage or adjust stall parameters.


OVER I TRIP

Current feedback value has exceeded 280% of rated current.

Cause:

  • Motor armature windings failure.

  • Badly tuned current loop.

  • Faulty Drive.




Remedy:

  • Check insulation resistance of armature windings.

  • Tune current loop.

  • Contact Parker if Drive is faulty.


ACCTS FAILED

AC current transformer plug connection to Drive power board missing.

Cause:

  • Plug missing or loose.

  • Frame 5 only: Load imbalance between parallel power stacks.




Remedy:

  • Check armature current transformer plug for correct installation.


AUTOTUNE ERROR

Error encountered during Autotune process (Speed > 20% or Field > 6%).

Cause:

  • Motor shaft was rotating or caused to rotate.

  • Field current exceeded 6% during field-off Autotune.

  • Drive to armature wiring open-circuit.

  • Discontinuous current boundary > 200%.

  • Large imbalance in three-phase supply voltages.

  • Hardware fault on control board.




Remedy:

  • Ensure motor shaft is stationary.

  • Check wiring and supply voltages.

  • Refer to “Control Loops – Manual Tuning” in manual.


AUTOTUNE ABORT

The Autotune sequence has been aborted.

Cause:

  • Coast Stop, Program Stop, Enable or Start Run terminal(s) disabled during sequence.

  • AUTOTUNE parameter reset during sequence.

  • Autotune sequence timed-out (approx 2 mins).




Remedy:

  • Check enable/start signals and retry.


SEQ PRE READY

Coding not present.

Cause:

  • Power board or chassis issue.




Remedy:

  • Replace power board or chassis.


CONTACTOR DELAY

The internal auxiliary 3-phase contactor failed to close.

Cause:

  • Internal contactor failure.




Remedy:

  • Check the position of the Calibration Scaling Switch.


EXTERNAL TRIP

Customer alarm! (Trip operates if input open or high impedance).

Cause:

  • Device not wired to drive or device open circuited.




Remedy:

  • Check C1 to C2 connections to drive.

  • Connect C1 to C2 if customer device not fitted.


REMOTE TRIP

Remote trip activated.

Cause:

  • REM. SEQUENCE parameter Remote Trip flag set to zero.




Remedy:

  • Check remote sequence parameters.


ENABLE LOW

Enable input is low.

Cause:

  • Local Mode run attempted with Enable input low.




Remedy:

  • Check Enable input signal.


SEQUENCING

Internal sequencing error.

Cause:

  • Internal error.




Remedy:

  • Contact Parker.


COMMS TIMEOUT

Remote comms timeout.

Cause:

  • Communication interruption.




Remedy:

  • See COMMS TIMEOUT parameter in the SEQUENCING function block.


CONFIG ENABLED

Drive requested to start whilst in Configuration mode.

Cause:

  • Drive is in Configuration mode.




Remedy:

  • Exit Configuration mode before starting.


CALIBRATION FAIL

Signal calibration fault.

Cause:

  • Hardware failure suspected.




Remedy:

  • Power the unit off and on.

  • If problem persists, contact Parker.


NO OP STATION

Keypad disconnected during local control.

Cause:

  • Keypad has been disconnected from Drive whilst Drive is running in local control.




Remedy:

  • Reconnect keypad or switch control modes.


AUX SUPPLY

Auxiliary supply failure.

Cause:

  • Issue with aux supply or mains input.




Remedy:

  • Check auxiliary supply and/or mains input.


COMMS FAULT CODE x

Communication hardware fault.

Cause:

  • Keypad faulty.

  • Remote cable to keypad faulty.

  • Drive firmware not running.




Remedy:

  • Check keypad and cable.

  • Check firmware status.


CRITICAL ERROR

xxxx::xxxxxxxx

Cause:

  • Critical system error.




Remedy:

  • Contact Parker.


(EEPROM) CHECKSUM FAIL

Parameters not saved, or are corrupted.

Cause:

  • Corrupted UDP file loaded.

  • (Appears at power-up or end of “Upload” UDP Transfer).




Remedy:

  • Press the E key.

  • Perform a PARAMETER SAVE.

  • Note: Drive will return to factory default values.


LANGUAGE CHECKSUM FAIL

Incorrect language selected, or corrupted.

Cause:

  • Corrupted UDP file loaded.

  • (Appears at power-up or end of “Upload” UDP Transfer).




Remedy:

  • Press the E key.

  • Reload the correct language or de-select the second language.
