Comm1 Error (Internal)

Cause: Internal communications error.

  • Improperly programmed ASD.

  • Improper communications settings.

  • Improperly connected cables.


Remedy:

  • Check programming and cable connections.


CM2
Comm2 Error (External)

Cause: External communications error.


Remedy:

  • Check external communication devices and settings.


EMG
Emergency Off

Cause: Output signal terminated; brake may be applied.

  • Stop|Reset pressed twice at the EOI.

  • EOFF command received remotely.


Remedy:

  • ASD reset required.


MOFF
Main Undervoltage

Cause: Undervoltage condition at the 3-phase AC input.

  • Low 3-phase utility voltage.


OC
Over Current

Cause: ASD output current greater than F601 setting.

  • Defective IGBT (U, V, or W).

  • ASD output phase-to-phase short.

  • The ASD is starting into a spinning motor.

  • Motor/machine jammed.

  • Mechanical brake engaged while ASD is starting/running.

  • Accel/Decel time too short.

  • Voltage Boost setting too high.

  • Load fluctuations.

  • ASD operating at elevated temperature.


Remedy:

  • Check for incorrect motor connection: Disconnect the motor and retry.

  • Check mechanical brake and load.


*OH
Overheat

Cause: ASD ambient temperature excessive.

  • ASD operating at elevated temperature.

  • ASD is too close to heat-generating equipment.

  • Cooling fan vent is obstructed.

  • Cooling fan is inoperative.

  • Internal thermistor is disconnected.


Remedy:

  • Check mounting and ventilation (see manual pg 18).


OJ
Timer

Cause: Run-time counter exceeded.


Remedy:

  • Type Reset required; select Clear run timer.

ASD Overload

Cause: Load requirement in excess of ASD capability.

  • Carrier frequency is too high.

  • An excessive load.

  • Acceleration time is too short.

  • DC damping rate is set too high.

  • Motor starting into a spinning load after power failure.

  • ASD improperly matched to application.


OLM
Motor Overload

Cause: Load requirement in excess of motor capability.

  • V/f parameter improperly set.

  • Motor is locked.

  • Continuous operation at low speed.

  • Load is in excess of what the motor can deliver.


*OLR
Resistor Overload

Cause: Excessive current at the Dynamic Braking Resistor.

  • Deceleration time is too short.

  • DBR configuration improperly set.


*OP
Overvoltage

Cause: DC bus voltage exceeds specifications.

  • ASD attempting to start into a spinning motor after momentary power loss.

  • Incoming utility power is above specified range.

  • Decel time is too short.

  • Voltage spikes at the 3-phase input.

  • DBR resistance value is too high or DBR function turned off.

  • Overvoltage Stall feature is turned off.

  • System is regenerating or load instability.


Remedy:

  • Install inductive filter for voltage spikes.

  • Install DBR if required.

  • Disable Ridethrough function (F302).


OT
Overtorque

Cause: Torque requirement in excess of F616/F617 settings.

  • ASD is not correctly matched to the application.

  • F616 or F617 setting is too low.

  • Obstructed load.


*POFF
Control Undervoltage

Cause: Undervoltage at 5, 15, or 24 VDC supply.

  • Defective Control board.

  • Excessive load on power supply.

  • Low input voltage.


PtSt
Reference Point

Cause: Two speed-reference frequency setpoints are too close.


Remedy:

  • Increase the difference between the two setpoints.


UC
Undercurrent

Cause: Output current below level defined at F611 for time set at F612.


Remedy:

  • Check load conditions and F611/F612 settings.


Atn
Autotune active

Cause: Autotune function is active. Atn2 indicates retry.


Remedy:

  • Wait for completion.


dbOn
DC Braking

Cause: DC Injection function being carried out.


Remedy:

  • Informational only.


ASD Overload
(Trip)

Cause:

  • Acceleration time is too short.

  • DC Injection current is too high.

  • V/f setting needs to be adjusted.

  • Motor running during restart.

  • ASD or motor improperly matched to application.


Autotune Error
Configuration Mismatch

Cause:

  • Autotune readings inconsistent with configuration.

  • Non-3-phase motor being used.

  • Incorrect settings at F400, F413, or F414.

  • Motor rating significantly smaller than ASD.

  • Output cabling too small, long, or has interfering EMF.

  • Motor is running during Autotune.


Communication Error
Malfunction

Cause:

  • Communication malfunction.

  • Improper or loose connection.

  • Improper system settings.


Control Power Undervoltage
Supply Issue

Cause:

  • Undervoltage at 5, 15, or 24 VDC supply.

  • 3-phase input voltage low.


CPU Fault
Processor Error

Cause: CPU malfunction.


Remedy:

  • Contact Toshiba Sales Representative.


DC Bus Undervoltage
Low Voltage

Cause:

  • 3-phase input voltage low.

  • Defective control board.

  • Excessive load on power supply.


Remedy:

  • Adjust Undervoltage/Ridethrough settings.


DC Fuse Open
Internal Fuse

Cause: Internal DC bus fuse is open.


Remedy:

  • Check internal components.


Dynamic Braking Resistor Overcurrent
DBR Current

Cause:

  • ASD inability to discharge bus voltage during regeneration.

  • No DBR installed.

  • Deceleration time too short.

  • Improper DBR setup information.

  • Defective IGBT7.

  • 3-phase input voltage above specification.


Dynamic Braking Resistor Overload
DBR Overload

Cause:

  • Deceleration time too short.


Remedy:

  • DBR setting adjustment required.

  • Overvoltage Stall setting adjustment required.


Earth Fault
Ground Fault

Cause:

  • Ground fault at the motor.

  • Ground fault at the output of the ASD.

  • Current leakage to Earth Ground.


EEPROM Data Fault
Read Error

Cause: EEPROM read malfunction.


Remedy:

  • Internal error; may require service.


EEPROM Fault
Write Error

Cause: EEPROM write malfunction.


Remedy:

  • Internal error; may require service.


Emergency Off
Remote Command

Cause: Emergency Off command received via EOI or remotely.


Remedy:

  • Reset ASD.


Encoder Loss
Signal Missing

Cause: Encoder signal missing while running during closed-loop operation.


Remedy:

  • Check encoder connections.


Flash Memory Fault
Internal Error

Cause: Flash memory malfunction.
Gate Array Fault
Hardware Error

Cause: Defective Gate Array or Gate Array malfunction.
Input Phase Loss
Supply Phase Missing

Cause: 3-phase input to the ASD is low or missing.
Load Drooping
Capacity Exceeded

Cause: Load requirement is in excess of the capabilities of the motor.

Cause: Improper wiring at the ASD output to the motor.

Cause: Improper Low Current detection level setting.

Overcurrent During Acceleration
Accel High Current

Cause:

  • V/f setting needs to be adjusted.

  • Restart from a momentary power outage.

  • ASD starting into a rotating motor.

  • ASD/Motor not properly matched.

  • Phase-to-phase short (U, V, or W).

  • Accel time too short.

  • Voltage Boost setting too high.

  • Motor/machine jammed or brake engaged.

  • Current exceeds 320-340% rated FLA during acceleration.


Overcurrent During Deceleration
Decel High Current

Cause:

  • Phase-to-phase short (U, V, or W).

  • Deceleration time is too short.

  • Motor/machine jammed or brake engaged.

  • Current exceeds 320-340% rated FLA during deceleration.


Overcurrent During Run
Operating High Current

Cause:

  • Load fluctuations.

  • ASD operating at elevated temperature.

  • Current exceeds 320-340% rated FLA during fixed-speed run.


Overheat
(Trip)

Cause:

  • Cooling fan inoperative.

  • Ventilation openings are obstructed.

  • Internal thermistor is disconnected.


Over Speed
Speed Limit Exceeded

Cause:

  • Result of motor speed greater than commanded speed when using encoder.

  • Improper encoder connection or setup information.

  • Defective encoder.


Overtorque
(Trip)

Cause:

  • Torque requirement by load in excess of F616/F617 settings.

  • ASD improperly matched to application.

  • Load is obstructed.


Overvoltage During Acceleration
Restart Issue

Cause: Motor running during restart.
Overvoltage During Deceleration
Decel Issue

Cause:

  • Deceleration time is too short.

  • DBR value is too high.

  • Stall protection is disabled.

  • 3-phase input voltage out of specification.


Remedy:

  • DBR setup required.

  • Input reactance required.


Overvoltage During Run
Instability

Cause:

  • Load fluctuations.

  • 3-Phase input voltage out of specification.


PG Type/Connection Error
Encoder Error

Cause:

  • ASD configured for encoder but no signal received.

  • Disconnection at the Encoder circuit.

  • Motor stopped and generating torque via torque limit control.

  • ASD is not configured properly.


Phantom Fault
System Fault

Cause: In multiple ASD configuration, a faulted ASD signals remaining ASDs to shut down.
Position Deviation Error
Position Limit

Cause: Operating in Position Control mode and position exceeds limits of F631.
RAM Fault
Memory Error

Cause: Internal RAM malfunction.
ROM Fault
Memory Error

Cause: Internal ROM malfunction.

Jumper Configuration

Cause:

  • Improperly positioned Sink/Source jumper on control board.

  • Sink/Source configuration of an option device is incorrect.


Torque Proving Fault

Cause: Lift-First Pulse Count (F743) adjustment required.

Firmware Mismatch

Cause:

  • Firmware loaded into Gate Driver board is inconsistent with device.

  • Gate Driver board has been replaced.

  • Gate Driver board is defective.


U/V/W Phase Short Circuit
Output Short

Cause: Low impedance at the U, V, or W lead of the ASD output.
